Through the years, MSA has continuously developed programs that aim to foster students interest in Mathematics and improve on their numerical and analytical skills. It has shown through the MSA Mental Math Program.
The program, originally a center-based, was developed by Mrs. Merle S. Alferez, the founder of MSA. This is a product of her years of experience in teaching mathematics, writing several Math books, further training at Harvard University Graduate School of Education and participating yearly in the NCTM conferences in the US.
Since October 2005, MSA, introduced the techniques through MSAMathzap School Caravan for MSA Mental Math. It has reached hundreds of schools in Metro Manila and other provinces. Participants are amazed on the simple techniques that would make them do mental computations in such a great speed.
MSA believes that the Techniques can improve the Math skills of Filipino kids tremendously. And to further spread the technology, MSA Mental Math School-Based Learning Systems and MSA Mental Math Satellite Centersare opened. These centers willcater to both elementary and high school students nationwide.
The importance of the MSA Mental Math to students and teachers is so high that MSA is now giving way to establishments of MSA Mental Math Satellite Center by school-affiliates to further widen the range of its effectivity to other students even outside the schools which adapted the MSA Mental Math.
The MSA Mental Math School-Based Learning System is a program in which schools are given the chance to tie-up with MSA in providing their students a curriculum that promotes interest in Mathematics, innovative and effective teaching strategies on the subject, and supplementary lessons helping them improve on their speed and accuracy in solving Mathematics problems.
